Frequently asked questions

Where can I have the treatments? We offer treatment in Heerlen, Hoogeveen, Arnhem, The Hague, Nieuwegein, Amsterdam or Venlo. You can also have the treatment (wholly or partly) on video calls or telephone calls, if you wish. Obviously you're more than welcome to attend our sites.

If six months' coaching turns out not to be enough, then will a longer process be an option? If six months' coaching turns out not to be enough, then will a longer process be an option? An extended process is an option. We will consider whether you want and need this during your treatment.

Will blood tests be done if there might be a hormone or thyroid issue? No, we don't do that. We would advise you to explore this thoroughly for yourself and discuss it with your GP.

I'm on medication for high blood pressure. What non-surgical weight loss treatment would be the best option for me? In principle, all the treatment options are possible for people with high blood pressure. We'll discuss the treatment that will suit you best together.

Would you advise minimising kilocalorie intake? Or does this differ from person to person? Obviously it depends on several factors, such as weight, muscle mass and age. There's no gold standard for this. It's important to look at what works for you and how you can get the best results.

Is treatment possible after stomach reduction surgery? Sometimes after stomach reduction surgery the patient may start to notice increased appetite and feeling less full, making it harder to keep the weight off. In such cases, starting medication might be a good idea for these people.

Is there a waiting list? No, we can see you quickly.

Can I combine treatments? Treatment combinations are possible. For example, you could have a second gastric balloon after the first one, if you want and need this. Some patients are also keen to maintain their weight more easily after the gastric balloon treatment.

Can I choose the location at which I'll be treated? Yes, we have seven treatment sites.

Do I need to take a prescription for the medication with me if I go abroad?

The advice is to request a statement of medication ('medicijnverklaring') from your pharmacist. Keep the statement of medication with your medication in your hand luggage.
